Maykel Barzagas
Maykel Barzagas is a music producer, sound engineer, and music industry executive. His musical education began in Havana, Cuba, where he studied music for 11 years, specializing in piano. He later pursued studies in electronics before graduating from Havana's Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) with a degree in Sound for Film.
Throughout his career, Barzagas has worked as a producer and sound engineer on more than 60 recording projects, in addition to numerous music, film, and audiovisual productions. His work includes contributions to the soundtracks of films such as "Habana Blues" and "Casa Vieja," among others.
His career in music includes involvement in internationally recognized projects such as "Bailando" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Gente de Zona, as well as Gente de Zona's album "VisualĂ­zate," along with numerous other projects developed over more than two decades in the industry.
His work has earned him three Grammy awards, including recognition in the categories of Record of the Year and Best Tropical Album, as well as 11 Cubadisco Awards. His work in film has also been recognized with a Goya Award for Best Original Score.
Barzagas later served for three years as Director of Operations at Puntilla Music, expanding his career from music production and engineering into the business and executive side of the industry.
He is currently the founder and CEO of Plus Media, where he leads the development of artists, music projects, and new business opportunities across the Latin music industry.
