Alex Gallardo
President, Sony Music U.S. Latin
Alex Gallardo is President of Sony Music U.S. Latin, a position he has held since 2019. Based in Miami, he leads the company’s U.S. Latin business and a roster of more than 80 artists, including Shakira, Romeo Santos, Rauw Alejandro, Maluma, Manuel Turizo, Milo J, EMILIA, Trueno, Kapo, Ozuna, and Farruko, among others. Under his leadership, Sony Music U.S. Latin has continued to strengthen its position as a leading force in the global Latin music business.
Gallardo joined Sony Music in 2003 as an A&R and has spent more than two decades growing through the company, serving as Senior A&R and A&R Director of Sony Music Spain. In 2012, he was appointed Co-Managing Director of Sony Music Spain, and in 2013 relocated to Miami as VP of A&R for Sony Music Latin Iberia. Throughout his Sony career, he has played a key role in the development of leading Latin artists and projects, working across projects involving artists including Chayanne, Julio Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Roberto Carlos, Santana, and CNCO, among others.
As President of Sony Music U.S. Latin, Gallardo has continued to drive the company’s growth through strategic A&R, artist development, and the expansion of Latin music globally. During his tenure, Sony Music U.S. Latin has achieved significant success across multiple genres and generations, while expanding its roster and international reach.
Gallardo began his career as a guitarist and composer in Madrid, recording two albums with the indie-pop group LANDA, before joining Warner Music Spain in 2000. He holds a degree in Business Management and Administration from the University of Alcalá de Henares. He has been recognized multiple times on Billboard’s Latin Power Players and Billboard’s Power 100 lists and has been named to Variety’s Miami Impact List.
