Víctor González
EVP, President of Latin America, US Latin, and Spain
Virgin Music Group
With a background in engineering and marketing, Víctor González's record label experience started at BMG Mexico in 1993, handling manufacturing and distribution before transitioning to the marketing division. From that position, he drove the international projection of major icons such as Juan Gabriel, José José, Rocío Dúrcal, Alejandra Guzman, Caifanes, Jaguares, Cristian Castro, Maldita Vecindad, La Lupita, and Fobia, among others.
In 1998, he joined the regional office of Universal Music Latin America, based in Miami, as VP of Strategic Marketing. He served as a key player in organizing and commercializing the catalog of the newly created Universal Music Group across the entire region. His leadership led to his appointment in 2003 as President of Universal Music Southern Cone Region, where he supervised operations in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. Based in Buenos Aires, he played a leading role signing and consolidating artists like Babasónicos, Axel, Bersuit Vergarabat, La Vela Puerca, and Bajofondo Tango Club, among others.
In 2006, he assumed the presidency of Universal Music Mexico and Central America. There, he directed the integration of the Fonovisa and Disa labels—pillars of the Regional Mexican genre—and closely supported the careers of Belanova, Paulina Rubio, Espinoza Paz, Valentín Elizalde, Alejandro Fernández, and Emmanuel, among others.
Five years later, in 2011, he was promoted to head Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE) as President based in Los Angeles, California. From this position, he simultaneously led US Latin and Mexico operations, boosting the reach of labels such as Fonovisa, Disa, Universal Latino, Universal Music Mexico, and Aftercluv. Under his management, global figures like Juanes, Luis Fonsi, Marco Antonio Solís, Jenni Rivera, Karol G, Jhay Cortez, Christian Nodal, J Balvin, and Feid achieved consolidation.
After a decade at the helm of UMLE, he took on the challenge in 2021 of launching Virgin Music Group operations in US Latin, Latin America, and Spain. Today, under his leadership, Virgin Music Group dedicates its efforts to the independent market. It offers services to top-tier labels and artists, including Carín León, Grupo Firme, Juan Gabrlel, Jenni Rivera, Nicky Jam, Gonzy, Lucky Brown, El Malila, Dany Flow, Espinoza Paz, Grupo Recluta, and Serko. Additionally, it collaborates with prominent labels such as DEL Records, Music VIP, La Esquina Inc, Golden Inc, Socios Music, Tango among others.
