Nat Pastor
Nat Pastor is Co-CEO of Virgin Music Group, the global independent label and artist services division of Universal Music Group, which he runs alongside longtime business partner, Co-CEO JT Myers.
Before Virgin, Pastor and Myers co-founded mtheory, an artist development company creating non-traditional partnerships with independent artists and managers, executing global campaigns for Major Lazer, the xx, Flume, RL Grime and more. They also advised mtheory clients, music industry entrepreneurs, and large enterprises on strategic initiatives and music rights transactions exceeding $1.5 billion, including $50 million deployed through mtheory’s internal fund vehicles, Unison and MTC.
Prior to co-founding mtheory in 2010, Pastor held senior leadership roles at Warner Music Group, where he served as Vice President of Business Development, overseeing major transactions and strategic partnerships globally. He worked closely with WMG’s publishing company, labels and international affiliates, providing strategic analysis, valuation and due diligence across investments; and played a key role in WMG’s $1.1 billion refinancing in 2009 and $600 million IPO in 2005. Earlier, he was an investment banker in Lazard Frères & Co.’s M&A division, advising on debt restructurings and distressed M&A. He is a graduate of Harvard University with an honors degree in Economics.
