John Janick
John Janick - Chairman and CEO, Interscope Capitol

John Janick began his journey in the music business by starting his own Fueled By Ramen label in 1996 when he was just a freshman in college. During an extraordinary run, he discovered and nurtured such multi-platinum artists as Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Paramore and Gym Class Heroes.

Fueled By Ramen’s success opened the doors for a partnership with Warner Music Group’s Atlantic Records, where he would sign and develop New York City’s fun, a band that won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2013, and the enormously popular Twenty One Pilots. His success at Warner helped to set up the young executive’s first major label co-presidency at the reactivated Elektra Records in 2009, where he and his team generated hits by such artists as Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo and Ed Sheeran.

In 2012 John Janick joined Interscope Records as the handpicked successor to the label’s co-founder Jimmy Iovine and became Chairman and CEO just two years later. At Interscope Janick oversees a roster featuring a wide array of artists; among them Eminem, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons, U2, Lana Del Reyand Gwen Stefani. In addition, he has further bolstered the company’s success with signings such as Juice WLRD, Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, to name a few. The label continues to forge partnerships with some of the most influential entrepreneurs in the business, including Justin Lubliner’s The Darkroom, Yo Gotti’s CMG, J. Cole’s Dreamville, and others.

Under Janick’s leadership, growth at the label group has increased steadily year after year. Interscope Geffen A&M has consistently been one of the most successful record labels in the world.

In early 2024 Janick took on the added responsibility of overseeing the iconic Capitol Records and its associated labels, forming a new organization, Interscope Capitol, which encompasses Interscope, Geffen, A&M, Lost Highway, Capitol, Motown, Priority, Verve, Capitol Christian Music Group and Capitol Records Nashville.
