Kate Del Castillo
This A-List Mexican actress has worked in Telenovelas and films since her early youth. She first
captured American audiences in 2007 with her award-winning performance in the Fox
Searchlight/Weinstein hit movie “Under the Same Moon”, which is still ranked among the top
10 highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical releases in U.S. history. She followed that with
a recurring role in the hit TV series, “Weeds”. In 2011 she starred in the massively popular
series "La Reina del Sur" (Queen of the South), which is currently having renewed success on
Netflix, and has since been adapted in English on the USA network.
Kate’s talent is versatile, with gritty performances in “Trade” opposite Kevin Cline, and “Julia”
co-starring Tilda Swinton. In 2012 she gave two critically acclaimed performances, first in the
Spanish language film “Colosio”, and second, in the English language film, K-11, in which she
played a transsexual man. She also guest starred in the TV series, Grimm. In
2014 she lent her voice to "La Muerte” in Guillermo Del Toro's Golden Globe nominated "The
Book of Life”, had a key role opposite Idris Elba in the hit film “No Good Deed”, and released a
hit Spanish language thriller called, “Visitantes”. In 2015, she starred opposite Antonio
Banderas in "The 33,” a film based on the true story of the trapped Chilean miners, and also
had a recurring role in the popular TV series “Jane the Virgin”.
Kate has enjoyed some massive successes on Netflix, first with two seasons of
the original series, “Ingobernable”, which she stars in and co-produced. Then came “The
Day I Met El Chapo”, the acclaimed three-part documentary, which she also co-produced, about
her now infamous meeting with Sean Penn and the notorious fugitive drug lord, and finally, La
Reina Del Sur 2, which broke ratings records on Telemundo and is now, along
with La Reina Del Sur 1, one of the most streamed Spanish language series on Netflix. In 2020,
Kate starred in the blockbuster hit “Bad Boys for Life”, alongside Will Smith and Martin
Lawrence, solidifying Kate Del Castillo as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.
Besides being a successful actress, producer and entrepreneur, Kate is also an outspoken
activist and humanitarian. She was appointed as Ambassador for the Mexican Commission on
Human Rights to help combat human trafficking. She is also a spokesperson for PETA and has
received numerous Humanitarian awards and recognitions, including the key to the City of Los
Angeles, where she currently resides. She owns her own brand of Tequila, “Honor Del Castillo”,
and in 2019 she became a partner in MMA’s “Combate Americas” and started her all female
production company, Cholawood Productions, which currently has a development deal with
global content creator Endemol Shine Boomdog.
